About Tile Saws ::

Faucets are installed
to regulate the flow of water from a pipe, drum or other liquid
reservoir. To install a tile around a faucet you will need various
tools.
Common tools used for this job include a
tile nipper, tile cutter, notched trowels, grout float, rod saw, grind
stone, tub saw, and jamb saw.
Cutting the Tile
The best tool to use to make straight cuts in the tile is a tile cutter.
This is an easy tool for the do-it-yourselfer to master. Just place the
tile into the cutter and use a cutting wheel to score the tile. Some
thicker tiles will need to be scored several times. After scoring the
tile you press down on the handle and the tile is broken along the line
you scored. You can purchase tile cutters from a variety of places, but
it is best to rent them if you don’t plan to use it very often.
Tile nippers are great for making irregular cuts. Use a utility knife or
glass cutter to first score the tile and then take off small pieces at a
time using the tile nipper. You will want to use tile nippers on areas
that are less visible, as they tend to leave rather jagged edges. They
also work well for areas that will be covered by trim or other fixtures.
Notched trowels are used for spreading adhesive onto your underlayment.
These trowels with come with notched grooves in either a “V” or square
formation. The v notched trowels work best for applying adhesive on
horizontal surfaces while the square notched trowels work best for
vertical surfaces. These trowels come in a variety of notch depths. Pick
one that has groove that are 2/3 the depth of your tile.
Grout floats are covered with rubber or foam and used to push grout down
between the tiles. To work the grout in to the joints you should always
run the float diagonally to the grout lines.
Trim Tiles
Quarter round trim pieces and corner pieces are usually placed around
all the edges of a tiled surface. These special tiles can be
individually covered with adhesive and then placed along the wall.
Excess grout can be removed with a straight edge once they have had time
to set. Always hold the grout float at a 90 degree angle when installing
the grout. As with floor tiles, use diagonal motions.
